Well, it’s August, folks. How did that happen so fast?
After 7 years (3 of those involving a commute), I have decided to say goodbye to my friends, colleagues, and loyal clients at A Center for Therapeutic Massage in Gainesville. I love the town and the office, but it felt like it was time to focus my energies here in Jacksonville. If you are ever in Gainesville, and find yourself in need of an excellent massage, call the therapists at CTM–they are some of the best in the business! I’m so grateful for my time there, and for all the wonderful people I’ve worked on over the years. Gainesville has a special place in my heart. 🙂
I’m not sure how “new” this news is anymore, but back in the spring, I switched to a larger room in the same location–it has tile floor and lots of room to stretch out during Thai massages. In May, I painted the room a pretty mint green to freshen things up, and just recently, I’ve added some sheer curtains, a burbling fountain, and some new stuff from my old office in Gainesville.
It’s looking and feeling really nice, and there will probably be a few more little tweaks coming up. The only constant is change, right?
Pro tip: When I have tightness and discomfort in my neck and shoulders, my go-to for relief at home is the Theracane. It is an amazing self-massage tool.
You, too, can feel this relaxed from a Theracane. Teebs here was smart to also refer to a helpful guidebook, which I will review tomorrow. Stay tuned!
I’ve been thinking about a quote which goes something like: “Those who look for flowers find flowers, and those who look for weeds find weeds.”
In that vein, here are some things I feel good about today:
1) I had a long phone call with my best friend, and later realized we’ve been friends for almost 18 years!
2) Inspired by last night’s episode of American Ninja Warrior, this morning I was brave and tried BODYPUMP for the first time. A very nice woman enthusiastically showed me the ropes and even asked for my card when she heard I do massage. I felt very strong and proud of myself…I only hope I can still move tomorrow!
3) Probably as a result of the morning’s workout, I have felt relaxed and productive all day.
4) I have enjoyed some quality time, reading with my cats. (Currently I’m finishing up this for my book club.)
5) Although I finished eating up the last of my homemade hummus (though that fact makes me a little unhappy), it is so easy and delicious that I’ll make it again soon. Here’s the recipe:
1/4 cup chicken or vegetable broth
1 14oz can of chickpeas, drained
3-4 cloves of garlic
2 tbsp lemon juice
3 tbsp tahini
Add all ingredients together in a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth!
