Yomassage

What is Yomassage?

Yomassage is gentle hands-on massage therapy and mindfulness practices with a focus on the breath.  Students of Yomassage are instructed how to arrange themselves in passive, supported positions on a mat on the floor instead of on a traditional treatment table.

While fully clothed and in a small group environment, students hold each position for 5-8 minutes while a licensed massage therapist performs manual massage on different parts of the body.

Yomassage works well for those uncomfortable with traditional one-on-one massage, those who are new to receiving therapeutic touch, and anyone wanting to remain clothed. It is great for almost everyone, provided you can get up and down off the floor at the beginning and end of class.

FAQs:

What do I need to bring to the session?

You do not need to bring anything.  Mats, blocks, bolsters, and other props will be provided for you.

What should I wear to the session?

Wear clothing that you normally would to a movement-type class (like a t-shirt and leggings/shorts/sweatpants–no need to get fancy.)  If you tend to get cool easily, it’s recommended that you wear layers and bring socks.

Where are classes held?

The classes, which are 60-75 minutes long, are held at my regular massage office on select Sunday afternoons. Space is limited to 3 people, so you must pre-register.

How much does it cost?

Classes are $45 per person.
